Motorcycle Buying Guide - Motorcycle Gear

You’ve bought your bike and are raring to go. All set? Not quite. A motorcycle purchase isn’t complete without a DOT-approved helmet. Most states have laws requiring that motorcyclists wear them, and study after study shows they are the most effective piece of safety gear available to a rider. After all, it’s protecting your head!

When choosing a helmet, consider these attributes: helmet type (full face, open face, hybrid, etc), safety, comfort, helmet shell material, helmet weight, size, ventilation, helmet safety liner, visor.

The motorcycle full face helmets provide extra strength and protection around the chin, but they can easily get warm and foggy.
The open faced helmets are aimed to protect the side of the face and ears. However they don’t have any chin protection.
The motorcycle hybrid helmets allow you to open the chin part of the helmet and slide it upwards. They are often very useful for people with glasses.
The motorcycle shorty helmets (also known as half helmets) and are the simplest form of a helmet. There is no side and no chin protection. They look best when riding a cruiser or custom bike.
The cycle motorcross helmets include a dirt cap and the possibility to place goggles.

As for the other motorbike gear, make sure it’s all safe and comfortable. Comfort and safety should always be your priority.
