Selling Motorcycle on eBay Guide - Choose Best Options for Your eBay Motorcycle Listing

You’ll have to decide whether you want a classified ad, a BuyItNow only option, a BuyItNow with Bids option, or a true auction without BuyItNow feature with bids only.

Let me tell you, I don’t see many classified ads do well on eBay. For some reason buyers are more attracted to auctions, maybe because usually ads show higher prices than auctions.

If your main objective is to sell your motorbike quick, add the BuyItNow option with what you think would be a good price for your bike, which might be a little below the blue book value. You should know it buy now since you’ve already done your research for your motorcycle blue book value (process described in the first step).

If your main object is to sell it for a high price and you don’t care that much about how quickly it sells, set it at a low starting price to start with (let’s say $1), but set a Reserve Price to the minimum dollar amount you’d agree to sell it for.

If you’re motorcycle is “hot” and you know it’s going to sell well, don’t set a Reserve Price on it, but make sure you mention “NO RESERVE” in the title. Many buyers are looking for NO RESERVE auctions since often they could get a great deal on them. This way you know that you’ll attract more people to your listing. Reserve prices are not published for buyers to see, but an auction will indicate whether the reserve has been met or not. As a seller, you are not obligated to sell the vehicle if the reserve price has not been met. If, during the auction, you are concerned that your reserve price is too high, you can lower it at any time.

Consider whether you want a public or private auction. With public auctions, buyers can’t identify bidders since their eBay ids are partially masked, but they can see the beginning and the end each eBay bidder id for a particular item (for example, a***d). In addition, eBay displays how many feedbacks from other auctions the bidder currently has. With private listings, bidders’ ids and feedbacks are completely hidden with the message “private listing - bidders' identities protected”. Some bidders feel more comfortable bidding on such big items as motorcycles when their identity is not even partially revealed.

For some extra money you can bold your motorcycle listing and make it stand out and listed in the top priority listings by selecting the Featured option (some restrictions apply – see the EBAY FEES EXPLAINED section for more details). I strongly suggest you do that – money well spent.
